Samantha

"That inner conflict was one of the most interesting parts of playing Samantha. On the one hand, she was deeply in love with Darrin and wanted to live a 'normal' life with him, which meant keeping her magic a secret. But on the other hand, magic was such a big part of who she was—it wasn’t something she could just turn off. I think the key to portraying that was showing how torn she felt. Samantha wasn’t ashamed of being a witch; she loved her powers and was proud of who she was. But her love for Darrin, and her desire to fit into his world, created this tension between being true to herself and keeping her true nature hidden.

What helped was that Samantha wasn’t trying to hide her magic out of fear—she wasn’t ashamed of it, but she was doing it out of love and respect for Darrin. So, when she would use her powers, it was always with that little bit of guilt or concern, especially when she knew it might upset him or cause problems. It was more about wanting to make their relationship work without magic always getting in the way.
There were moments when I played her where you could see that tug-of-war in her eyes—she’d have this mischievous or playful expression when magic went wrong, and you could feel the frustration of her not being able to just be open about it. But at the same time, she was a loving wife and mother, and her priority was always keeping her family together. I think that’s what made Samantha such a relatable character: her vulnerability in trying to balance these two very different sides of herself, and the way she navigated that with humor and grace."
