EIGHT MEN OUT
"EIGHT MEN OUT" --- (1988) ---
MY THOUGHTS: This is an excellent film, and as far as "baseball movies" go, it is one of the very best! The fact that it is based on a true story, and major sports scandal, just makes it more so. It has an outstanding ensemble cast, all of whom do a terrific job in their respective roles. It is well-written and has a very high production value. It is well-worth the watch and I have watched it many times over!
SYNOPSIS: "The Chicago White Sox, who are set to play the Cincinnati Reds in the World Series of 1919, are at odds with their team's owner, Charles Comiskey, who pays his players unsatisfactory wages despite the team's popularity. However, their reputations and careers are ruined when the dark secret, dubbed the "Black Sox Scandal," reaches the public consciousness."
