No one prepares you

No one prepares you for how powerful a simple shower can feel after having a baby.

You’re running on fumes. Leaking from places no one warned you about. Your body is sore, your emotions are raw, and your baby always seems to cry the second you step into the water. You’re hoping for just a couple minutes where no one needs you.

It’s not just about getting clean. It’s about remembering that you exist outside of feeding schedules and spit-up stained shirts. For a moment, under that hot water, you’re not just a human pacifier. You are you even if just for five minutes.

Finally clean. Emotional. Hormonal. Real.

Postpartum is beautiful. It is also brutal. That short shower becomes a lifeline. A moment of peace. A reminder that you matter too.

To every new mama out there, you are not alone. You are doing better than you think. And yes, that shower is enough today.
