Sitting Bull, Tecumseh and Crazy Horse
Sitting Bull, Tecumseh and Crazy Horse led with humility, a trait that many believe is the foundation of true greatness.
Sitting Bull was a Hunkpapa Lakota leader who played a significant role in the Battle of Little Bighorn. He was known for his exceptional leadership skills and his unwavering commitment to his people. He led by example, fighting alongside his warriors rather than sitting back and commanding from a distance. Sitting Bull earned the respect of his people, not by ordering them around, but by working alongside them. He demonstrated courage, wisdom, and patience, which his followers learned and emulated.
Similarly, Tecumseh was a great Shawnee chief and warrior, known for his strong leadership skills and his remarkable oratory abilities. Tecumseh's leadership style was based on leading by example, as he was willing to sacrifice his life for his people. He rallied the various tribes of the American Midwest to fight for their land, which had been unjustly taken by colonizers. He was a fierce warrior on the battlefield, and his courage inspired his people to emulate his bravery.
Crazy Horse was a Lakota warrior, who led his people to victory against the US army in what is known as the Fetterman Massacre. He was a humble yet fierce leader who led his people by example. He displayed unwavering courage and selflessness, which inspired his followers to fight alongside him against their oppressors. Crazy Horse's humility was evident even in the way he dressed, as he wore plain clothing and refused to wear the traditional headdress of a leader.
True leaders lead with their hearts and have an unwavering commitment to their sacred values and the well-being of their communities. The examples set by Sitting Bull, Tecumseh and Crazy Horse demonstrate that leading with humility and leading by example is the foundation of true greatness. These leaders were willing to put themselves in harm's way, live modestly, and fight alongside their followers, inspiring them to emulate their courage, integrity and selflessness.
