Being a mom has a way

Being a mom has a way of holding up a mirror you didn’t even know existed.

It shows you every part of yourself the strong ones, the tired ones, the ones you’ve avoided for years because you were too busy surviving.

You learn fast that ignoring your own needs doesn’t make you a better mom.
It just makes you exhausted and numb.
And eventually you hit a point where you realize something has to change…
Not just for you, but for the little eyes watching you every day.

Motherhood forces you to rethink everything you were taught about strength.
It’s not pushing through until you break.
It’s choosing rest before you fall apart.
It’s admitting “I need help.”
It’s choosing boundaries even when people don’t like them.
It’s walking away from anyone who drains the version of you your kids deserve.

Somewhere along the way, you start healing the parts of yourself you ignored for too long.
You drink your water.
You go to therapy.
You stop apologizing for needing space.
You finally understand that taking care of you is taking care of them.

Because your kids won’t remember a mom who never struggled.
They’ll remember a mom who kept choosing herself even on the hard days.
A mom who didn’t give up on her own heart.
A mom who loved herself enough to teach them how to do the same.

It’s not easy.
But you’re worth the work.
Every single day.
