Eric Linden


 Eric Linden was born in NYC in 1909 and worked with the Theater Guild for two years, appeared on Broadway and was signed up for films with RKO making his debut in the drama, "Are These Our Children?" in 1931 which was followed by "Young Bride" with Helen Twelvetrees, "The Crowd Roars" as James Cagney's brother, "The Roadhouse Murder" with Dorothy Jordan, "The Age of Consent" with Dorothy Wilson, Richard Cromwell, Arline Judge, "Life Begins" with Loretta Young, Aline MacMahon, Glenda Farrell, "Big City Blues" with Joan Blondell, "Afraid to Talk" with Sidney Fox and all of these were 1931/1932 releases. Linden continued and was often then in secondary leads and the best from 1933 is "The Silver Cord" with Laura Hope Crews as a possessive mother of Linden and Joel McCrea to the chagrin of Irene Dunne and Frances Dee. "Ah, Wilderness!" was an all-star film adapted from Eugene O'Neil's play with Wallace Beery, Lionel Barrymore and Linden was teamed with Cecelia Parker as he was again in "A Family Affair" with Mickey Rooney as Andy Hardy and Lionel Barrymore as Judge Hardy. Linden left movies in 1941 and served in WWII. He married at age 46 and was the father of three. He lived in Laguna Beach and he died at age 84 in 1994.
