If love could have saved you

If love could have saved you, my darling, you’d still be here. There would have been no goodbyes, no quiet house, no empty bed. My love would have wrapped around you like armor, keeping pain and time from ever touching you.

But life isn’t built that way. Love can’t stop time—it can only make it beautiful.

I remember how I tried to bargain with the universe. “Take anything,” I whispered, “just let me keep them.” But deep down, I knew that kind of love—the pure, unconditional kind you gave me—was never meant to be confined. It was meant to transcend.

So, on that final day, when I felt your body grow still beneath my hand, I realized love was doing the hardest, holiest thing it ever could: setting you free.

You may not be here where I can see you, but you live in the pulse of everything good. You are the warmth of morning light, the softness in silence, the whisper that says, “I’m still here.”

If love could have saved you, you would never have gone.
But love did something even greater—it carried you home.
