I can still feel that moment

I can still feel that moment—the weight of your head in my hands, the quiet of the room, the way time seemed to stop.

The vet’s voice was soft, the world was still, and all I could do was whisper over and over how much I loved you. I told you it was okay to go, even though my heart was begging you to stay.

You looked at me one last time, and I swear there was peace in your eyes. It was as if you were telling me, “Don’t be afraid. You gave me everything. It’s time for me to rest.”

And so, with tears streaming down my face, I gave you that final gift—freedom.

They call it “The Last Goodbye,” but I’ve learned it isn’t really goodbye. It’s a promise whispered through tears, a love that shifts from something you can touch to something you can feel everywhere.

Now, every sunrise feels like your smile. Every quiet night feels like your breath against my heart. You are not gone—you’ve just gone ahead.

The last goodbye was not the end of our story. It was simply the moment love learned to live without form. And one day, my sweet friend, when I cross that same bridge, you’ll be there—tail wagging, eyes bright, love waiting like it never left.
