Motherhood teaches you real quick not to take things so personally

Motherhood teaches you real quick not to take things so personally.

Your baby isn’t crying at you. Your toddler isn’t throwing a fit to spite you. Your teenager isn’t pulling away because you’ve failed.

They’re all just experiencing their own little worlds. Their own frustrations. Their own growing pains.

It’s so easy to assume it’s about us. That we’re not good enough. That we’re doing something wrong. But most of the time, it’s not personal.

They’re figuring out how to be human. How to handle big feelings in small bodies. How to push boundaries to see if they’re still safe.

And we’re learning too. How to love without conditions. How to stay patient. How to not take every meltdown as a measure of our worth.

Their journey isn’t a direct reflection of our failures or successes. It’s their own. And that’s a hard, beautiful thing to remember.
