Breaking cycles is not gentle

 Breaking cycles is not gentle.

It’s uncomfortable, lonely, and often thankless.
It’s choosing to be the one who stops what everyone else normalized.

It means questioning the way things have always been done.
Saying no when it would be easier to stay quiet.
Doing things differently even when it costs you relationships, approval, or peace in the moment.

You don’t just break cycles.
You sit with the guilt.
You second-guess yourself.
You grieve what you didn’t get while building something better anyway.

And still, there is beauty in it.
In the children who won’t need to heal from what you healed from.
In the safety you create without ever having to explain it.
In the strength it takes to choose change over comfort.

You’re not overreacting.
You’re not dramatic.
You’re ending something that should have stopped long before you.
