Class
"Class" is a comedy-drama film released in 1983, directed by Lewis John Carlino.
The film revolves around the relationship between two young men from very different backgrounds who become roommates at a prestigious prep school.
Skip Burroughs (Rob Lowe) is a wealthy and privileged teenager from an upper-class family. He is eager to fit in at the prep school and maintain his social status. On the other hand, Jonathan Ogner (Andrew McCarthy) is a working-class student with a rougher edge, who secures a scholarship to attend the same school.
Despite their contrasting backgrounds, Jonathan and Skip become roommates and develop a close friendship Skip orchestrates a plan for Jonathan to lose his innocence. Sent to Chicago by Skip's guidance, Jonathan encounters Ellen, an enchanting older woman, sparking a passionate liaison between them.
However, as the Christmas holiday approaches, Jonathan uncovers a startling truth that upends his perceptions and challenges the foundations of his newfound relationships.
Andrew McCarthy and Rob Lowe's performances helped launch their careers as '80s heartthrobs, and Jacqueline Bisset added depth to the film with her portrayal of the conflicted character, Ellen. "Class" remains a notable entry in 1980s cinema for its exploration of youth culture and societal expectations.
