 Sanditon (2019–2023)

Completing Jane Austen's final, unfinished masterpiece.
When Jane Austen tragically passed away in 1817, she left behind an intriguing, unfinished 11-chapter fragment set in a developing seaside resort. Masterpiece PBS and legendary screenwriter Andrew Davies stepped in to pick up the pen, weaving that fragment into a sweeping, dramatic three-season series!
The show follows Charlotte Heywood (Rose Williams), a spirited, modern-minded country girl who thrusts herself into the eccentric, money-obsessed, and unpredictable social circles of Sanditon.
.A Tale of Two Darcys (and Dances):Your beautiful photo collage perfectly captures the two major chapters of Charlotte's heart that kept fans fiercely divided:
🌅 The upper photo captures the electric, unforgettable chemistry between Charlotte and the brooding, tempestuous Sidney Parker (Theo James) during the Season 1 ball. Their friction-filled relationship felt straight out of the classic Pride & Prejudice playbook.
🍂 The lower photo shows Charlotte locked in a deeply tender, understanding gaze with the quiet, grieving widower Alexander Colbourne (Ben Lloyd-Hughes) in the later seasons. His gentle nature offered a completely different kind of slow-burn, redemptive love.
Through heartbreak, financial ruin, and societal scandals, Sanditon gives us a bumpy but incredibly satisfying look at what an Austen story looks like when stretched across multiple seasons of television.
👇 Let’s Discuss!
The ultimate Sanditon debate—were you strictly Team Sidney or Team Colbourne , and were you happy with how Charlotte’s story ultimately wrapped up in Season 3?
