PLATINUM SUNBURST TIARA, 1927, by CARTIER
PLATINUM SUNBURST TIARA, 1927, by CARTIER
The caption for this tiara in the V&A Tiaras book:
“A platinum sunburst tiara made by Cartier in 1927 for Countess Tysckiewicz. Its striking design is accentuated by the use of alternating bands of brilliant- and rose-cut diamonds. The central element is tremblant and was once set with a jonquil-coloured diamond which was later replaced by a large star sapphire. Several versions of this jewel were made, by different Parisian jewellers; when Princes Irina Youssoupova was on honeymoon in Paris in 1914, she ordered one from Chaumet. Private Collection.”
