Having kids with big age gaps is its own kind of beautiful.
One minute you’re packing a lunchbox for a kid who’s suddenly too cool for hugs, and the next you’re rocking a baby who thinks you hung the moon. Your days become this strange mix of teenage attitudes and toddler giggles… eye rolls in the hallway and tiny hands reaching for you before nap time. And sometimes it’s lonely.
You feel stretched between two different worlds, trying to show up fully for both. You’re teaching one how to drive while teaching the other how to hold a spoon. You’re cheering for first steps and first heartbreaks at the exact same time.
But there is so much magic in it too.
Big kids become protectors without even trying.
Little ones look at their older siblings like they’re superheroes.
And you get a front-row seat to watch all of it.
If you’re a mom navigating big age gaps, you’re doing better than you think. You’re raising kids who will grow up knowing that family doesn’t have to look one specific way to be full of love, patience, and grace.
Some days it feels messy.
Some days it feels impossible.
But most days?
It feels like a blessing you never knew you needed.
And one day, when they’re all grown, you’ll look back and realize you somehow managed to give each of them exactly what they needed… even when you weren’t sure you could.
You’re doing amazing, mama.
