Sometimes as a parent

Sometimes as a parent you have to learn to pick your battles.

Not everything is worth a fight.
Not every moment needs to turn into a lesson or a meltdown or a power struggle.

Some days it’s letting them wear the tutu to the grocery store.
Letting them have breakfast for dinner.
Letting them mix up their shoes because they’re proud of doing it by themselves.
Letting the little things be little things.

Because the truth is kids are still learning how to be people.
They are figuring out feelings and choices and what independence feels like.
And most of the time the hill we think we need to die on doesn’t matter as much as we think it does.

I’ve learned that when I save my energy for the moments that actually matter the whole house feels calmer.
The connection is stronger.
The love is louder.
And the battles that do need to happen go so much smoother.

It’s okay to let the small things go
Sometimes choosing peace is the better parenting choice
And sometimes the real win is realizing you don’t have to fight to be a good parent.
