Elizabeth Montgomery

Elizabeth Montgomery did have significant friendships with other prominent actresses, both from her era and outside of Hollywood, though she was generally a private person who preferred to keep her personal relationships low-key. She formed deep bonds with some of her colleagues, and these friendships often reflected her grounded and thoughtful nature.

One of her close friends was actress and fellow Bewitched star, Agnes Moorehead, who played her character’s mother, Endora. Despite their on-screen rivalry, Elizabeth and Agnes had a warm and supportive friendship off-screen. Agnes, much older than Elizabeth, acted as a mentor to her, and they often enjoyed each other’s company. Elizabeth admired Agnes's experience and professionalism, and their connection went beyond the show, with the two women often sharing a deep mutual respect for each other’s work and personal lives.
Elizabeth also shared a friendship with actress and activist Kate Jackson, her co-star from the 1970s hit show Charlie’s Angels. The two were reportedly close during the time they worked together, with Elizabeth providing support and advice to Jackson, who had a similar blend of career success and public scrutiny. Although their friendship wasn’t widely publicized, those close to them knew that they enjoyed spending time together.
Beyond Hollywood, Elizabeth had friendships with women who weren’t part of the entertainment world. She was known to be friends with several writers and intellectuals, with a circle that extended beyond the usual Hollywood crowd. Elizabeth was drawn to people who were creative, thoughtful, and grounded, which reflected her desire for authenticity in both her personal and professional life.
Her relationships were characterized by a sense of loyalty, and while she wasn’t one to actively seek out a large social circle, the friendships she did maintain were often long-lasting and meaningful. This smaller, close-knit group of friends seemed to align with Elizabeth’s preference for a quieter, more private life away from the spotlight.
