Don Alvarado
Don Alvarado was born Jose Paige in Albuquerque, NM on November 4, 1904-March 31, 1967, Los Angeles, CA. He went to Los Angeles at age 18 to find work in films and he became friends with Gilbert Roland. They shared an apartment for a time until Don met and married Ann Boyar in 1924. They had a daughter, actress Joy Page. Ann divorced Don in 1932 and she married Jack L. Warner in 1936. Don was romantically linked to actress Marilyn Miller, and they were said to have been engaged but nothing came of it.
Don first broke into films in 1924 as an extra in "Mademoiselle Midnight" and he went on as a supporting actor in over fifty films into 1940 and a few TV appearances. He also worked as assistant director on 26 films and as production manager on 15 films. He died of cancer at age 62.
