Glenda Jackson

Our condolences to the family and friends of the actress Glenda Jackson CBE, who has died at the age of 87 following a brief illness.
Glenda Jackson, who was an Oscar, Emmy and Tony winner, will be remembered by many of us here for her iconic role as Queen Elizabeth I in the 1971 BBC series "Elizabeth R".
Her other notable roles include Elizabeth I in "Mary, Queen of Scots" (1971), Gudrun in "Women in Love" (1969), and Sarah Bernhardt in "The Incredible Sarah" (1976).
During a hiatus from acting between 1992 and 2015, she served as the Labour MP for Hampstead, also becoming Junior Transport Minister under Tony Blair.
She is survived by her son, "The Sun" columnist Dan Hodges, and her grandson.
