A perfect ring of color surrounding the Sun

A perfect ring of color surrounding the Sun .. but this isn’t a rainbow.

🌈☀️

What you’re seeing is a solar halo, formed when sunlight passes through millions of tiny ice crystals suspended in high-altitude cirrus clouds. Each crystal bends and separates the light, spreading it into a smooth spectrum that wraps around the Sun like a glowing crown. The intense brightness at the center and the sharp inner edge come from the precise geometry of the crystals and the Sun’s angle in the sky.

Moments like this are easy to miss and impossible to repeat, lasting only as long as the clouds and sunlight agree.
