You’ll get a lot of advice when you become a parent
You’ll get a lot of advice when you become a parent. Most of it you’ll forget, ignore, or learn the hard way.
But the one piece I’m glad I listened to was this…Make some noise when the baby is sleeping.
I used to tiptoe through my own house like I was trying not to wake a dragon.
Holding my breath.
Closing every door like it was made of glass.
Whispering to my husband like we were roommates in a college library.
But babies who grow up around normal life… adapt to normal life.
The dishwasher hums.
The dog barks.
Their siblings crash toys on the floor.
And they keep right on sleeping.
It doesn’t make you a bad mom to live in your home.
You don’t have to turn your world silent just because you had a baby.
Let them hear life happening.
Let them nap through the chaos.
Let them grow up knowing home is a place full of love, laughter, and sound.
