I let my kids play video games

I let my kids play video games.

And no, it’s not because I don’t care or because it’s “easier.”

It’s because I’ve actually paid attention.

They’re problem solving in real time.
Learning patience and persistence after failing over and over.
Reading more than people realize.
Practicing hand eye coordination and quick decision making.
Working as a team.
Managing frustration.
Learning strategy, timing, and cause and effect.

I see communication.
I see creativity.
I see confidence building when they finally beat the level they swore was impossible.

Do we have limits? Of course.
Do we still go outside, read books, get bored, make messes, and live real life? Absolutely.

But I refuse to villainize something just because it’s modern.

The world they’re growing up in is digital.
Teaching them balance, self regulation, and healthy habits inside that world matters more than pretending it doesn’t exist.

Parenting isn’t about banning everything.
It’s about guiding them through it.
