One day they won’t need me to zip up their costumes
One day they won’t need me to zip up their costumes or hold their little candy buckets.
They won’t come running up, yelling, “Mom, look how much I got!”They’ll be out with their friends, too old for matching family costumes, too grown for my camera roll full of pumpkin smiles.
So tonight, even when the sugar rush hits and I’m chasing them down the sidewalk, I’m soaking it all in.
Because these are the moments that turn into memories I’ll miss someday
the giggles under streetlights, the sticky fingers, the magic of a night that’s over too fast.
