Last year I stopped filming the fireworks.
I turned my camera on my kids instead. Watching their little faces light up, hearing them gasp and giggle, seeing them jump up and down like it was the best thing they’d ever seen that’s what I wanted to remember. The fireworks don’t matter. It’s their wonder. Their joy. The way they reached for my hand when the sky got loud.
One day they’ll be too big to do that. One day they’ll watch fireworks with someone else.
So I’ll keep filming them. Not the sky. Because these are the moments I never want to forget.
