Defenders of the Law
"Defenders of the Law" 1931 directed by Joseph Levering, written by Hampton Del Ruth and Louis E. Heifitz Catherine Dale Owen, John Holland, Robert Gleckler, Edmund Breese, Mae Busch, Paul Panzer, Kit Guard, Joseph W. Girard, Phil McCullough, Al Cooke, Nick Thompson. Low budget B Picture with Catherine Dale Owen who is known for co-starring with John Gilbert in his panned talkie debut, "His Glorious Night", and Mae Busch whom you might know for playing Mrs. Hardy in Laurel and Hardy's "Sons of the Desert" and as a character actress in many films. Edmund Breese, a prolific film actor, plays a police commander, with John Holland as Bill Houston, a police captain, versus Robert Gleckler as gangster Joe Velet. Interesting note is Velet and Houston were in the army during the war. Velet cuts out paper profiles which is a nice side note but Al Cooke shows up too often as a bumbling photographer who fumbles with the tripod. It is supposed to be funny, but it is merely annoying. I watched it to the end. Another guilty bad movie guilty pleasure.
