There are days when the world feels duller

There are days when the world feels duller

because you’re not walking in it.
But then a rainbow appears—
quick, unplanned, breathtaking—
and something in my heart whispers,
“Look. That’s where they rest.”

I imagine a realm
just beyond the colors we know—
a place where rainbows don’t arch and vanish,
but settle softly onto warm fields
like bridges made of light.

There, souls like yours
don’t wander or wait.
They belong.
Gentle paws touching iridescent grass,
fur glowing with every shade of hope.

The air must feel warm there—
like a hug you can walk through.
And the ground must be soft—
the kind of softness meant for souls
who gave so much love in their time on earth.

I see you lying in the glow,
head lifted,
ears perked,
watching the colors shift
the way you once watched me move through a room.

No pain in your limbs,
no heaviness in your breaths—
just the easy rise and fall of peace.

And when the rainbow fades from my sky,
I don’t feel as lonely.
Because I know
it didn’t disappear—
it simply returned home
to the place where souls like yours
go to rest.

A place where love gathers in color.
A place where joy becomes light.
A place where the most beautiful souls
finally find their forever.

Where rainbows rest souls…
that’s where you are now.
And that’s where my heart looks
every time it misses you.
