I still take our walks

I still take our walks. My hands reach for the leash out of habit, and for a moment I forget… then remember. You’re not here the way you used to be.

But somehow, I still feel you.

When the morning light filters through the trees, I sense your joy in it. When I pause and hear nothing but the rhythm of my breath, I catch the faint sound of your paws beside me—steady, loyal, familiar.

Love doesn’t stop walking just because one of us can’t be seen. It finds new ways to keep pace.

You were my companion through every storm, every joy, every ordinary day. And even now, you remain my silent strength. You walk beside me in memories, in dreams, in moments of quiet courage when I take another step without you.

Sometimes I whisper, “Stay close,” and I swear the air shifts—as if the wind itself answers, “Always.”

One day, the road will curve toward the meadow where you wait, tail wagging, ready to walk with me again. Until then, I’ll keep moving forward, knowing you’re here, forever by my side.
