Roztoka Castle, Poland
Roztoka Castle, Poland
From the end of the 15th century until 1945, the castle in Roztoce was the headquarters of the Hrabian Silesian line von Hochberg. The Hochbergs came to Silesia from Miśnia at the end of the 13th century. In Silesian documents, the family has been mentioned as von Hoberg since 1290. In the 15th century, he divided into a noble line based in Dobrocin near Dzierżoniów, an extinct Baronowska line from Buczynka near Lubin, Hrabiowska from Książ and Roztoka, and the prince's line from Książ and Pszczyna separated from the latter line. Almost all the descendants of the Hochberg have been called Hans Heinrich since the 17th century, so they were numbered in the order of birth, not the reign.
