Jack La Rue


 Jack La Rue, born Gaspere Biondolillo (May 3, 1902 – January 11, 1984)

La Rue was a film and stage actor. He performed in Broadway plays from around 1923 to 1931. He began in films with bit gangster parts in films such as "Follow the Leader" (1930) and "While Paris Sleeps" (1932). In total, La Rue would go on to have over 100 film credits during his career. Some of his best credits include "A Farewell to Arms" (1932), "Captains Courageous" (1937), "Road to Utopia" (1946), "Ride the Man Down" (1952) and "Robin and the 7 Hoods" (1964). He also appeared on many television series such as "Lights Out", "Perry Mason", "The Millionaire", "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." and "The Girl From U.N.C.L.E." La Rue stated he turned down a role in The Godfather (1972) and many parts in the television series The Untouchables because of the way they portrayed Italian-Americans. He was married three times, and had no children. La Rue died of a heart attack at Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica, California, age 81. He is interred at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, California.
