Dunalastair House
Rising from a Perthshire wood like a spectre of the past, the ruins of Dunalastair House built in 1859 make for an imposing sight.
Described as "neither a castle, nor comfortable family home", it began to fall into decline during the First World War, as the staff needed to run such a prestigious house became scarce.
Then during the Second World War it was requisitioned to serve as a school for the children of Polish refugees.
Damaged by fire in the late 40s, it is said a painting by the great John Everett Millais was lost in the blaze.
From the 50s onward its decline continued as first it was vacated then its furniture sold off.
Largely abandoned, it suffered from further vandalism, including the stealing of the lead from its roofs.
Lying close to Loch Rannoch, there have been a few people keen to restore the once majestic building, I really hope someone does
