Bollerup castle in Sweden is from the end of the 15th century and is located on an islet and surrounded by moats. The original castle consisted of two towers, one in natural stone and one in brick, which were later built together. The northern range and the moat are from the Middle Ages and form the original castle.
During Sören Norby's Scanian rebellion in 1525, the castle was burned but was rebuilt soon after. Sören Norby was a Danish admiral and county lord
of Gotland. He wanted the former King Hans back instead of the then King Christian II.
After the castle burned down, it fell into disrepair and the castle was a warehouse in the 17th century. In the 20th century, the castle was restored and regained its original medieval appearance.
