Hackley House
Hackley House Circa 1887 Muskegon, Michigan:
Charles H. Hackley hired David S. Hopkins of Grand Rapids to design and build the magnificent houses and City Barn for Hackley and his partner Thomas Hume with construction taking place between 1887 and 1889.
Structurally restored to its 1890s appearance, the Hackley House is a unique example of Victorian architecture and late nineteenth century interior decorative arts. Nationally known artisans from Chicago and New York used original samples uncovered during restoration to bring the elaborate interior stenciling and the 13-color exterior paint scheme back to life.
