Trivia of Danny Kaye (18 January 1911 – 3 March 1987) *Kaye's first break came in 1933 when he joined the Three Terpsichoreans, a vaudeville dance act. They opened in Utica, New York, where he used the stage name Danny Kaye for the first time. The act toured the United States and in Asia with the show La Vie Paree. The troupe left for a six-month tour of Asia on 1934. During its stay in Osaka, Japan, a typhoon hit the city. The troupe's hotel suffered heavy damage. The strong wind hurled a piece of the hotel's cornice into Kaye's room. By evening's performance time, the city was in the grip of the storm. With no power, the audience became restless and nervous. To calm them, Kaye went on stage holding a flashlight to illuminate his face and sang every song he could recall as loudly as he was able. The experience of trying to entertain audiences who did not speak English inspired him to do the pantomime gestures, songs, and facial expressions that eventually made his r...

And Elokim spoke to Moses

"And Elokim spoke to Moses, and said to him, "I am Hashem" There are three forms of Divine expression: 1.Elokim 2.Hashem 3.Hashem is Elokim 1)Elokim is the Divine connected with nature. The Creator of nature, and manifest within nature. 2) Hashem (the Yud-Hey-Vav-Hey) represents the Infinite, the transcendent Divine that is beyond nature. 3) Elokim is Hashem, is the unity of the two. The numeric value of Elokim is the same numeric value of the words Kli Hashem / the vessel of Hashem. ----- 1) We sense Elokim in our lives when we feel guided. When the details of our lives come together, we feel the interconnectedness of things, and we sense purpose. 2) We are aware of Hashem in our lives when we feel as if something miraculous and extraordinary has occurred to us. 3) We sense that Elokim is Hashem when we live with the recognition that every moment of life is truly a miracle, and nothing is expected or routine. ---- The Divine Names: Experientially: Elokim – Feeling Purpo...

Napoleon

Napoleon, one of the best military commanders who ever lived, had a vivacious sex life. Rising from obscure Corsican nobility during the tumultuous period of the French Revolution, his intelligence, military successes, and charisma made Napoleon a French Emperor. But it wasn’t only his public life that was illustrious, it was also his sEx life that was filled with spicy details. As his fame grew, his sExual innocence was disappearing. As a teenager, he ate cherries with his love interest, and as a general and emperor, he had raunchy affairs with Europe's most beautiful women. But it was his saucy first wife Josephine, who taught him his lovemaking skills. While twice married Napoleon is most typically known as a conqueror of armies, he also enjoyed conquests of numerous women. Although Napoleon claimed he had only 7 mistresses, he probably had at least 21. One of Napoleon’s mistresses was a famous French actress who had sEx also with his arch-enemy, Duke Wellington. She naughtly...

Coffee, Madam?

Coffee, Madam? Apparently, coffee is very good for writers. It provides cognitive enhancement, meaning that it aids in processing ideas a little faster. And here I thought all those writers sitting in coffee shops were like me, just escaping my own four walls. Like T. S. Eliot 's Prufrock, I have measured out my life with coffee spoons. Coffee’s appearances in fiction are too many to catalogue. The way a character prepares or drinks coffee can show a lot about them, or it can simply be the backdrop for a conversation. But though its appearances are legion, works in which coffee plays a central role are few. Agatha Christie 's Black Coffee teases with its title, but the bitter drink turns out simply to be the vehicle for the poisoning Hercule Poirot must exercise his little grey cells to solve. I have, though, enjoyed a couple of titles that I thought I might pass on. And I’d appreciate your recommendations... The Coffee Trader by David Liss I preferred this American writer’s ...
