Shabbat
May this Shabbat awaken us to the oneness of all creation; to knowing ourselves and all beings as expressions of the Divine. May this Shabbat nourish our body, mind, heart, soul and spirit, and bind us to those we love, to all whom we encounter along the way, and to Ruach Haolam – the Breath and Source of life.In love we take upon ourselves the challenge of Shabbat as a reminder of the purpose of creation. In peace we take upon ourselves the sanctity of Shabbat as a catalyst for freedom and unity.
Wondrous is the Source of life who hallows the Shabbat.
Hadlakat Nerot Shabbat - Lighting the Shabbat Candles
Where the world is dark with illness, let me kindle the light of healing.
Where the world is bleak with suffering, let me kindle the light of caring.
Where the world is dimmed by lies let me kindle the light of truth.
Wondrous is the One in whom all reality happens
Wondrous is the Breath that enlivens all the world.
Baruch Ata HaMakom, Ruach ha'Olam asher kidshanu b'mitzvotav v'tzivanu l'hadlik nair shel Shabbat.
May the lighting of these Shabbat candles bring us closer to Truth, and remind us of our obligation to do justice, act with compassion, and walk humbly.
Rabbi Tzvi Freeman
