Trivia of Cesar Romero

 Trivia of Cesar Romero (15 February 1907 - 1 January 1994)

*His grandfather named Jose Marti was a poet and Cuban national hero, key figure in the country's fight to throw off the shackles of Spain colonialism. The lyrics to the song "Guantanamera" were adapted from his verses.
*He was a legendary dancer, with no formal dancing training.Romero's entry into Hollywood came via the ballrooms of New York City. In 1927, a wealthy woman named Elizabeth Higgins asked the 20 year old to form a dance partnership. The two would light up the floors at dinner clubs like the Ambassador Roof and the Montmartre Café. It was said he had the skills to be the rival of Astaire, and yet he had no dance training.
*At the age of 33, he debuted in films, appearing in roles that highlighted his Latino look and created his image as a Latin lover. He made his big screen debut as Tony Rico in the pre-code mystery film The Shadow Laugh (1933).
*He got his first lead role, appearing as Antonio Galvan in The Devil Is a Woman (1935) opposite Marlene Dietrich.Although Romero was thrilled to get the lead role, ‘The Devil Is a Woman’ had to be withdrawn soon after its release because of a protest by the Spanish government. Therefore, he was not able to benefit much from it.The Spanish Government protested the unfavorable portrayal of the Spanish police. Paramount destroyed the original print after its initial run, and it remained out of circulation until 1959. Marlene Dietrich herself kept a print of the film in a bank vault for safe keeping, as it was her favorite film. She feared the film would otherwise be lost. New prints were struck from her private copy in the 1980's for art house release. The superb quality of the prints in circulation now , and on DVD are because of this fact.
*Between 1939 and 1941 he made a name for himself starring as The Cisco Kid the dashing Mexican Robin Hood in a series of six Westerns.
*Had appeared with Betty Grable in four films: Springtime in the Rockies (1942), Coney Island (1943), That Lady in Ermine (1948) and The Beautiful Blonde from Bashful Bend (1949).And in four movies with Frank Sinatra : Around the World in 80 Days (1956) , Pepe (1960), Ocean's 11 (1960), and Marriage on the Rocks (1965).
*His evil laugh as the Joker on Batman (1966) was created almost by accident. Shortly after being cast, Romero met with producers to discuss his role on the series. While waiting to meet with them, he happened to see conceptual art of the Joker's costuming. Romero felt that the pictures almost look absurd, and as a result, spontaneously broke out into a playfully loud and almost manic laughter. A producer overhearing that laughter, responded by telling Romero "That's it, that your Joker's laugh!".
