A bit of a mystery surrounds this postcard. It's a portrait of a young Cheyenne boy, wearing a long feather headdress, breastplate, neckerchief, and shirt decorated with fringe. He holds a stick or possibly a wooden toy rifle. Printed on the postcard is "Young Indian boy, Montana - KFR," but Kenneth F. Roahen apparently did not take the photograph. Instead, the image is in the Richard Throssel Papers at the American Heritage Center at the University of Wyoming and is titled "A Cheyenne boy warrior." He was photographed between 1905 and1911.
