Breaking Bad

 Jonathan Banks has admitted there’s one Breaking Bad scene he still struggles with as Mike Ehrmantraut.

It’s the moment when Mike leaves his granddaughter alone in the park and walks away. Banks openly disagreed with it, saying, “Mike wouldn’t do that.” To him, Mike would never leave his granddaughter behind like that.

He’s also said that this happened more than once while playing Mike. Whenever he trusted the writers and went with their decisions, it usually ended up making sense in the end.

Even so, this scene was hard for him to accept. The writers’ reasoning was that the police were already in the park, so they would look after her and make sure she got back to her mother safely.

Still, it’s easy to see why the moment feels so unsettling. It goes against everything Mike stands for when it comes to family.

And maybe that’s exactly why it stays with us.
