I don’t think TVD was actually about romance
I don’t think TVD was actually about romanceI think the fandom accidentally watched two different shows.
When I first watched, I thought the story was about love triangles and “good vs bad brother”.
Rewatching now… it feels more like a story about loneliness.
Almost every character isn’t chasing romance — they’re chasing the one person who makes them feel less alone:
Stefan wanted redemption more than love.
Damon wanted to be chosen.
Elena wanted someone who understood her grief.
Bonnie wanted to matter to someone for once.
Caroline wanted to finally be enough.
The relationships weren’t really about romance, they were about validation.
That’s why people still argue about ships years later, we weren’t picking couples, we were picking the emotional need we related to most.
We didn’t ship characters.
We projected ourselves.
That’s probably why rewatches hit so different.
