LIGHTNING AT THE END OF A RAINBOW
LIGHTNING AT THE END OF A RAINBOWIt happened off the Florida Keys, right when a night storm crossed the water and the last light still had moisture to work with.
The rainbow appears when light meets fine droplets in the air and splits into color. The lightning happens inside the storm cloud when electrical charge builds up — then releases in a fast discharge toward the surface. When the storm edge and the clearing sky overlap, you can catch both in one frame: color from moisture, and lightning from the charged cloud.
Where you can see moments like this :
Florida (Keys, Gulf Coast) — warm water + frequent storms
HawaiŹ»i — fast-moving showers and clearing skies
Gulf Coast (TX/LA/MS/AL) — humid air + evening storms
Best timing: sunset into early night, when storms are still active and the air is packed with moisture.
