Bud Spencer
In November 2017, Budapest honored Italian actor Bud Spencer with a bronze statue, a testament to his enduring popularity in Hungary. Born Carlo Pedersoli in 1929, Spencer became known for his roles in Spaghetti Westerns and action/comedy films, often opposite Terence Hill. His films were a huge hit with Hungarian audiences, especially during the communist era, creating a lasting fan base.
The 240-centimeter-tall statue was created by sculptor Szandra Tasnádi and stands in Corvin sétány, a pedestrian area in Budapest. The pedestal bears the inscription "Mi sohasem veszekedtünk" ("We never argued"), a quote from Terence Hill's eulogy, highlighting their long-standing friendship and collaboration.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by Spencer's daughter, Cristiana Pedersoli, and numerous fans, underlining his significant impact on Hungarian culture.
The statue has since become a major attraction, with visitors appreciating its homage to the beloved actor.
