Trivia of Teresa Wright

 Trivia of Teresa Wright (27 October 1918 - 6 March 2005)

*After seeing Helen Hayes star in Victoria Regina at the Broadhurst Theatre in New York City in 1936, Wright took an interest in acting and began playing leading roles in school plays.
*Samuel Goldwyn discovered her on Broadway in the hit play "Life with Father" and invited her to Hollywood to play Alexandra, the daughter of Bette Davis's character in The Little Foxes (1941).She even nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her film début in The Little Foxes.
* While filming biopic movie The Pride of Yankees (1942), She played Lou Gehrig's wife Eleanor Gehrig and wore the actual bracelet which Lou Gehrig (played by Gary Cooper) gave to Eleanor on their fourth anniversary. Eleanor brought the bracelet to the set to be used in the movie. The bracelet is made up of seven World Championship emblems, six All-Star Game charms, two MVP Awards, the Sporting News MVP, and one representing the film Rawhide. On the back was one more token of Lou's love, an inscription, "To Eleanor, with all my love forever, Lou, Sept. 29, 1937." The bracelet is now displayed in the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York.
*Wright appeared in the acclaimed Universal film Shadow of a Doubt (1943), directed by Alfred Hitchcock, playing a young woman who discovers her beloved uncle (played by Joseph Cotten) is a serial murderer. Wright did not read the script before agreeing to sign on for this movie. Alfred Hitchcock described the plot to her in a meeting, and she agreed to take on the part immediately.Hitchcock thought Wright was one of the more intelligent actors he had worked with, and through his direction brought out her vivacity, warmth, and youthful idealism—characteristics uncommon in Hitchcock's heroines.
*Wright was just 11 years older than Jean Simmons, who played her daughter in The Actress (1953) and The Happy Ending (1969).
*Until actress Jennifer Lawrence received her third nomination in 2014, Wright held the record for youngest actor to receive three acting Oscar nominations.Teresa Wright also remains the only performer to have received Academy Award nominations for her first three films (The Little Foxes , Mrs Miniver, The Pride of Yankees ).
*In honor of her heartfelt performance in The Pride of the Yankees (1942), when Teresa Wright died in 2005, when the roll call of former Yankees who had passed on was announced, her name was read out among all the ballplayers.
