Trivia of Priscilla Lane (12 June 1915 - 4 April 1995)
*The youngest sibling in the Lane Sisters' family of singers and actresses.Her oldest sister was actress Rosemary Lane and Lola Lane.The Lane Sisters appeared together in film series : Four Daughters (1938), Four Wives (1939), and Four Mothers (1941).
*Priscilla's awkward acting experience happened in film Love Honor and Behave (1938), another light romantic comedy opposite Wayne Morris, who playing her husband, spanked her 47 times in a scene for which she declined a double. The publicity department at the studio suggested that Priscilla and Morris be seen together around town. They liked each other and did date for a period; however, Priscilla later said it was never serious on either side.
*She appeared as John Garfield's love interest in four movies : Four Daughters (1938), Daughters Courageous (1939), Dust Be My Destiny (1939), and Four Wives (1939).
*Her movie Yes, My Darling Daughter (1939) was banned in several parts of the United States because her character spent an unchaperoned weekend with a man.She was suspended twice by Warner Bros studio for turned down roles that she considered unsuitable.
*She appeared as leading lady in Alfred Hitchcock's underrated movie Saboteur (1942).Hitchcock originally wanted Margaret Sullavan or Barbara Stanwyck for the leading female role, but it went to Priscilla Lane.Hitchock little upset and thought Priscilla Lane "simply wasn't the right type for a Hitchcock picture.", he felt Lane was too much the girl next door.
*Frank Capra requested her for the lead opposite Cary Grant in Arsenic and Old Lace (1944). The comedy film was completed in early 1942, but was not released until 1944; it was held up by contractual agreement not to distribute the film until the play's long Broadway run was over.
*In the late 1940s, Priscilla left Hollywood and moved to Andover, raising a family. She returned to show business briefly as the host of “The Priscilla Lane Show” on Boston television in 1958-59.She enjoyed the television experience, but family demands proved too much, and she gave up after a year.
