SYNOPSIS: "On an island in the South Seas, Walter Eckland lives a quiet life. That changes when he's persuaded to serve as a lookout for the Allies, watching for enemy ships. Eckland, whose main interest is drinking, proves bad at his job and is sent to fetch a replacement from another island. Instead he finds a stranded teacher, Catherine, and her pupils. After Eckland brings the group to his island, romantic sparks fly between the prim schoolmistress and the slovenly loner."
STARRING: Cary Grant, Leslie Caron, Jennifer Berrington, Stephanie Berrington, Laurelle Felsette, Pip Sparke, Trevor Howard, Sharyl Locke, Nicole Felsette, Verina Greenlaw and Jack Good.
SCREENPLAY: Peter Stone and Frank Tarloff; Based on "A Place of Dragons" (short story) by S. H. Barnett.

AWARDS & HONORS:
S. H. Barnett, Peter Stone, and Frank Tarloff won the Oscar for "Best Writing, Story and Screenplay, which was written directly for the screen." When Stone accepted his Oscar, he said: "Thank you to Cary Grant who keeps winning these things for other people.”
Ted J. Kent was nominated for "Best Film Editing."
Waldon O. Watson for "Best Sound."
It received a nomination for the 1965 Golden Globe "Best Motion Picture - Musical/Comedy award."
