Susan Peters
Susan Peters (July 3, 1921 – October 23, 1952)Peters was an actress in the 1940s through the 1950s. She had a small role in Meet John Doe (1941), and her first substantial role, in Random Harvest (1942), earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress nomination. In 1944 she was one of ten actors at MGM who were elevated from featured player status to the studio's official star category (Along with Esther Williams, Kathryn Grayson, Van Johnson, and others). However, her career was derailed in 1945, after a shooting accident left her paralyzed from the waist down. She continued to act, but her disability make it difficult to get certain roles. Peters suffered from depression. Her health continued to deteriorate until her death at age 31, from kidney disease and pneumonia complicated by anorexia nervosa. Susan Peters is buried at Forest Lawn in Glendale, CA.
