People love to act like

People love to act like bed sharing is just putting a baby in your bed and going on with your night.

Like it’s casual.
Like it’s lazy.
Like it’s reckless.

But that’s not what it looks like here.

It’s fewer pillows than I’d like.
Blankets kept low and out of the way.
My body positioned carefully, consciously.
A sleep that’s lighter than it used to be because I’m always aware of where they are.

It’s my arm curved around a tiny body all night long.
It’s instinct taking over before comfort ever does.
It’s adjusting without even waking up because some part of me never fully turns off.

It’s not “just sleeping.”
It’s protecting while resting.
It’s choosing closeness while staying alert.
It’s creating the safest space I know how to create with the information, instincts, and awareness I have.

You don’t have to choose it.
You don’t have to understand it.
But please stop pretending it’s careless or uninformed.

For me, it’s intentional.
It’s mindful.
It’s done with love and a deep sense of responsibility.

And it looks nothing like the story people tell about it.
