Charles Starrett


 Charles Starrett, March 28, 1903, Athol, MA - March 22, 1986, Borrego Springs, CA. Began as an extra in "The Quarterback" 1926 while at Dartmouth and he went on to do vaudeville, regional theater, and Broadway before being signed for the male lead in "Fast and Loose" 1930. He also appeared in "The Royal Family of Broadway" 1930, "The Mask of Fu Manchu" 1932, "Jungle Bride" 1933, "Our Betters" 1933, "Stolen Sweets" 1934, "The Silver Streak" 1934, "Sons of Steel" 1934, "One in a Million" 1935, and "What Price Crime" 1935. He made many Western films and over 35 as The Durango Kid amassing 168 screen credits by his retirement in 1952. He was married to Mary McKinnon from 1927 to his death. They had two children.
