We are all busy

 We are all busy.

But if your kid is eating and you are in another room
that is not busy.
That is careless.

Yeah I said it.

Choking is silent.
There’s no dramatic movie scene.
No screaming.
No warning.

Just a child sitting there unable to breathe
while you’re switching the laundry
or scrolling
or “just grabbing something real quick.”

You need to be in the same room.

Not upstairs.
Not outside.
Not “I can hear them from here.”

In the same room.
Eyes up.
Body turned toward them.

Because seconds matter.
And pride won’t bring your kid back.

We are all busy.
But busy does not outrank breathing.

Some things need your direct attention.
And if that makes you uncomfortable
good.
