I never knew

I never knew how much healing I needed until I became a mom.

It’s like my kids held up a mirror I didn’t even know I was avoiding.
They didn’t cause my pain, but they brought it to the surface.
They made it impossible to keep pushing it down.

Through their eyes, I saw all the places I was still hurting.
Through their love, I found the courage to face what I used to run from.
They helped me break cycles I didn’t want to pass down.
They gave me a reason to do the hard work.

And even though it hasn’t always been easy, I’ll never stop being thankful.
Because they didn’t just make me a mom.
They gave me the chance to become whole.
