It’s not your job to keep pretending everything is okay
It’s not your job to keep pretending everything is okay with the people who constantly show you they don’t care.
It’s okay to stop making excuses for the ones who only show up when it’s easy for them. The ones who disappear when things get hard. The ones who ghost your kids and expect you to cover for them. You are allowed to protect your peace. You are allowed to say this isn’t love. You are allowed to say this hurts.
I show up even when I’m tired. Even when I’m overwhelmed. Even when I feel like I’m breaking. Because I love my babies with every part of me. Because I made a promise to never be the one who disappears.
So no, I won’t explain away someone else’s absence. I won’t keep covering for the ones who walk away. I won’t let my kids believe that love looks like inconsistency.
If you needed a sign to stop carrying the weight for people who refuse to show up this is it.
Let them go. Let yourself breathe. Let your kids see what real love looks like.
