There are days

There are days when the noise feels too loud

When the tantrums hit a little harder
When your patience feels paper-thin

But then you see those little hands
Reaching for you
Still learning how to hold, how to help, how to love

They’re not trying to be difficult
They’re just trying to figure out this big world
With hands that are still growing

So when it feels like too much
Pause
Look at their hands
The same ones that once wrapped around your finger for the very first time

They’re still reaching out for you
Even when their words don’t say it

Hold them a little longer today
Not because you have to
But because someday, they won’t be this little anymore.
