David Manners

David Manners as Caliph Abdallah in Warner Brothers' adaptation of Edward Knoblock's "Kismet" starring Otis Skinner, Loretta Young, David Manners, Sidney Blackmer, Mary Duncan Montagu Love. No expense was spared and ten cities showed it in 65mm called Vitascope while the rest of the country used standard 35mm prints. "Kismet had been filmed in 1920 and also starred Otis Skinner who in 1930 was 73 while Loretta Young, the film's leading lady, was 17. The film contained many highly pre-code content, particularly in the harem sequences, which contributed to it becoming a Lost Film. It was deemed unsuitable for any rerelease to theaters and to television in the beginning years of television. In my own desire to see all of David Manner's films I was prepared to seek out this one only to learn that is is listrf, as far too many silent and pre-code films are, as a film presumed Lost. It is a "Lost Film"
